What's This Settlement About?

A $450,000 Class Action Settlement has been reached with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (“UPMC”). The original class action lawsuit was brought about due to an alleged third-party criminal cyberattack targeting email and computer systems between approximately April 1, 2020 to June 25, 2020. This security incident resulted in the potential compromise of personally identifiable information such as:

• Social Security Numbers,
• Dates of Birth,
• Bank or Financial Account Numbers,
• Driver's License Numbers,
• State or Government ID Card Numbers

A law firm retained by University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Charles J. Hilton PC (CJH), had been the target of these attacks and the breach resulted in email accounts being accessed by a malicious third party cyber attack, according to class action lawsuit documents.

How Do I Qualify?

You are included in the Settlement if you reside in the United States and your Personal Information was accessed, stolen, or compromised as a result of this Cyber Security Incident.

What Can I Get?

This class action settlement will provide a three types of cash payment to the people who will timely submit a valid claims:

• Documented Expenses and Lost Time Reimbursement, not to exceed a total of $250.00.

• Documented Extraordinary Loss Reimbursement, are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $2,500.00, and

• Undocumented Time Spent, persons who spent time dealing with repercussions of the Security Incident, but does not have documentation of such time, will be eligible to submit a Settlement Claim for time spent in an amount of $15 per hour up to two hours (for a total of $30.00). The aggregate total amount that any Settlement Class.

Member may receive in reimbursement for these two types of payments that will not exceed $2,780.00.

How Do I File a Claim?

To receive a reimbursement you must timely submit a claim form either online or mail it postmarked no later then September 3, 2022 to:
