What is the Beef Class Action Settlement About?

A $52.5 Million Class Action Settlement has been reached with several top beef producers in the United States. The Class Action lawsuit alleges that several major beef producers in the United States conspired to price-fix the cost of case-ready and boxed beef, sold at supermarkets, from at least January 1, 2015. The Class Action lawsuit alleges that the beef producers violated U.S. federal antitrust laws by raising and maintaining beef prices artificially and costing direct purchasers more to buy beef from the following producers, who have not admitted to any wrongdoing in the case, filed as In re Cattle and Beef Antitrust Litigation, et al. (In re DPP Beef Litigation):

How Do I Qualify?

In order to qualify for a payout from the Beef price-fixing Class Action Settlement you must have directly purchased qualifying beef products (either boxed or "case-ready" beef) between January 1, 2015 and February 10, 2022 in the United States from one of the following beef processors, or their subsidiaries and affiliates. Boxed, or "case-ready" meat refers to beef products that have been processed and pre-packaged at a central facility by one of the following direct producers of beef, package-ready to be placed in a supermarket wholesale. You will often encounter case-ready beef at supermarkets in wrapped packaging, lidded packaging, and vacuum-sealed packaging.
