Beyond Meat $7.5M Protein Settlement: Payments Started Going Out July 31, 2026

Published November 12, 2024
Updated August 1, 2026

Beyond Meat settled claims that it overstated the protein content of its plant-based products for $7.5 million. If you filed a claim before the April 14, 2025 deadline, payments started landing on July 31, 2026 — $2 per covered product, sent by whichever method you picked on the claim form.

Current Status

Payments are going out. Claimants began reporting settlement payments on July 31, 2026, roughly 15 months after the settlement became effective. Claims are closed — the deadline was April 14, 2025 — so there is nothing left to file, and this page is here for people who already filed and are waiting on money.

The court entered its final approval order on March 24, 2025, and the settlement reached its effective date on April 24, 2025. Valid claims pay $2 for each covered Beyond Meat product, and your payment arrives by whichever method you selected on your claim form: check, PayPal, Venmo, ACH, or Zelle. If you chose a digital option, check the email address and account you filed with before assuming nothing arrived.

What Changed Recently?

The money started moving. Class members who filed valid claims began reporting that their payments arrived on July 31, 2026 — the first distribution from the $7.5 million fund since the settlement went effective in April 2025. Our news write-up covers the payout, the MDL history behind it, and why the wait ran this long.

One note on sourcing: the July 31 start date comes from claimant reports rather than a formal distribution notice we were able to pull from the administrator's website, which was not reachable from our systems when this update was written. The court record on approval, and the payment amounts and methods, come from the settlement documents and Beyond Meat's own securities filings. If your payment has not shown up, the administrator's site is the authoritative place to check your claim.

Beyond Meat funded the settlement in two pieces: $250,000 paid into the fund in August 2024, and the remaining $7.25 million paid into escrow by May 14, 2025.

Why Payments Took This Long

A gap between final approval and money in hand is normal, and 15 months is on the longer end but not unusual for a consumer settlement of this size. After the effective date the administrator still has to work through every claim: validating submissions, running deduplication and fraud checks against claim volume, resolving deficient or contested claims, calculating any pro rata adjustment once the valid-claim total is known, and then processing payments across five different payment rails. Digital payments generally land first; mailed checks trail them.

What Happened?

The litigation alleged that labels and marketing overstated the protein content or quality of certain Beyond Meat products. Beyond Meat denied the allegations and wrongdoing, and agreed to settle to avoid continued litigation.

Who Was Covered?

People who bought covered Beyond Meat products in the United States for household use, and not for resale, from May 31, 2018 through August 14, 2024 were included, subject to the settlement exclusions.

What Benefits Were Available?

Valid claims provided $2 for each covered product. Claims without proof of purchase were capped at five products per household, or $10; documented purchases were not subject to that five-product cap.

My Payment Has Not Arrived — What Now?

Distributions of this size are not sent in a single batch, so a payment that has not landed yet is not necessarily a payment that is not coming. Before doing anything else, check the inbox and the PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle account tied to the email address or phone number you used on the claim form, including spam and promotions folders, since digital settlement payments are easy to mistake for marketing mail. If you elected a mailed check, allow for normal delivery time.

If nothing appears after that, the settlement administrator is the only party that can look up your individual claim, confirm which payment method is on file, and tell you whether your claim was validated. Use the contact page on the official settlement website rather than a third-party service — filing and follow-up are free, and no one needs to be paid to check on a claim.
