Overpriced Tuna and Chicken Settlement

A $40.6 million settlement has been agreed upon in Washington State with a large list of tuna and chicken production companies for price fixing in the state of Washington. The lawsuit resulted in a large settlement of over $40,000,000, which the Attorney General of Washington State is distributing to lower and middle class residents of Washington. In order to qualify for a payout, you must submit a claim via the Attorney General's settlement website by June 5, 2024.

What is the Canned Tuna and Chicken Lawsuit?

The Washington State Attorney General's Office sued over 20 corporations involved in the production and sale of chicken and canned tuna. These companies were found to have engaged in covert agreements to inflate prices for these products, thereby violating both state and federal laws designed to foster healthy competition in the market and maintain reasonable prices for consumers, according to the State Attorney's office. Consequently, Washington consumers allegedly ended up paying more than they rightfully should have for chicken and canned tuna.
