What's the DoorDash Illinois Tip Settlement?

An $11 million lawsuit has been settled with DoorDash. This class action settlement was reached between the Illinois Attorney General's Office and DoorDash, Inc. The lawsuit alleged that DoorDash misled customers into believing that tips would increase drivers' pay, but instead used those tips to reduce the company's own job wages to drivers' guaranteed pay.

The DoorDash settlement resolves these allegations and requires DoorDash to maintain a pay model that does not use consumer tips to calculate its contributions to workers' pay. According to the DoorDash tips lawsuit, DoorDash violated the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (ICFA).

What is the Total Settlement Amount?

The total DoorDash tips settlement amount is $11,250,000.

How Do I Qualify For a Payout?

To potentially qualify for a payout, you must be one of the approximately 80,000 DoorDash drivers who completed deliveries in Illinois between July 2017 and September 2019 and received tips that were not paid in addition to the guaranteed amount for those deliveries.
