What is the IGK Dry Shampoo Benzene Class Action About?

This $850,000 class action lawsuit concerns the alleged contamination of IGK dry shampoo products with benzene, a potentially harmful chemical. The lawsuit, known as Henning v. Luxury Brand Partners, LLC, claims that some of IGK dry shampoo products may have contained unsafe levels of benzene. Luxury Brand Partners, LLC, the defendant in the class action lawsuit, denies these allegations but has agreed to settle to avoid further litigation costs and distractions from their core business.

What is Benzene? Is it Dangerous?

Benzene, which is at the center of the Batiste Dry Shampoo Class Action Settlement, is a well known odorless, and colorless chemical. Prolonged exposure to benzene carries serious health risks and consequences. Thus, the CDC and FDA recommend that consumers be aware of ingesting or consuming benzene in products, as well as the environment. For more about benzene, read the CDC's fact sheet on the chemical here.
