The Fitzgerald consumer-loan settlement provides automatic cash distributions alongside cancellation of covered LDF online-loan balances.

Current Status

Final approval was entered December 17, 2024, with an effective date of January 16, 2025. Initial automatic payments were sent in March 2025, and the official site announced a second June 2026 distribution for class members whose first payments were successful.

What Is This Case About?

The lawsuits alleged that LDF lending companies and associated entities made or collected online loans with interest rates or licensing practices that violated state and federal law. The defendants and released parties denied wrongdoing and liability.

Who Was Included?

Qualifying borrowers obtained a loan from one of the 20 identified LDF lending companies between July 24, 2016 and October 1, 2023. No separate cash claim was required.

What Was the Benefit?

Automatic cash payments came from a $37.35 million fund and were calculated using applicable state law and borrower payment records. Covered unpaid loan balances were cancelled under the settlement.
