What Is The NP Thyroid Medication Class Action About?

A class action lawsuit has been settled over claims made about NP Thyroid, a medication for hypothyroidism. NP Thyroid medication is produced by Acella Pharmaceuticals, LLC. The class action lawsuit claimed that between May 2018 and April 2021, NP Thyroid was often ineffective due to allegedly incorrect amounts of its active ingredients.

According to the lawsuit, this resulted in financial losses from the standpoint of monetary damages for those who purchased the medication as it proved to be ineffective. Acella disputes these claims, arguing that their product met standards and that any issues were not intentional.

NP Thyroid is a medication used to treat underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). The medication is derived from animal thyroid glands, typically from pigs. This medication helps those that suffer from hypothyroidism by replacing or adding more thyroid hormone, which the body needs but isn't making enough of on its own with such a diagnosis.

Do I Qualify for Payout?

To be part of the NP Thyroid class action settlement, you must be in the United States and you must have received a prescription for NP Thyroid between May 12, 2018, and April 30, 2021, regardless of whether Acella Pharmaceuticals recalled the NP Thyroid medication.

You cannot receive a payment if you already received a refund from Acella for purchases during the recall periods for the medication. Also, if you request a refund through another program for any purchases during the class period, you may not be eligible for payment in this settlement.

How Much Can I Get Paid?

Under the provisions of the NP Thyroid class action settlement agreement, each eligible class member may receive a payment ranging from $10 to $50, estimated, provided they submit a claim on time and meet all the requirements. The total amount available for all class members is estimated to be almost $41,500,000. The specific payment each valid claimant can receive will be determined by the amount paid for NP Thyroid and whether proof of those payments is provided.

Regardless of how much you spent on this medication and whether you have proof of it, no class member will receive more than $50 from this settlement.

Proof can include documents like pharmacy receipts, insurance records, or other pharmacy documents that show you were prescribed NP Thyroid. If you paid out of pocket, the documentation should also indicate the amount you paid.

What Kind Of Supporting Documentation Can I Provide?

The following are examples of valid types of proof or supporting documentation:

• A pharmacy receipt or a copy of the pharmacy receipt,
• Pharmacy records reflecting your relevant NP Thyroid prescription,
• Insurance provider records,
• Pharmacy benefits manager records

Any of these supporting documents should reflect the dates of prescription that are included as part of the class action settlement, between May 12, 2018, and April 30, 2021.
