What is the Turkish Airlines Class Action About?
A $1,000,000 class action settlement has been agreed upon with Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines, Inc. operates flights to over 300 major destinations in more than 120 countries, making it one of the most significant airlines in the global aviation industry.
The class action lawsuit, which was eventually settled and resulting in the payouts provided, alleged that Turkish Airlines breached its contract, called the "General Conditions of Carriage" or the "GCC" by canceling flights and not refunding them to consumers or failing to do so in an appropriate or reasonable duration of time. Turkish Airlines agreed to the settlement after mediation, but did not accept any wrongdoing or responsibility for the allegations made in the TA class action lawsuit.
The General Conditions of Carriage are a set of rules that explain how a transportation company and its passengers should behave and what their rights and responsibilities are. These rules cover things like buying tickets, carrying baggage, dealing with delays or changes to the schedule, and how the company is responsible if something goes wrong during the journey. They also explain how passengers should behave and what services are available for people who need special help. These rules are important because they help ensure a smooth and fair travel experience for everyone involved.
