Sara Lee Class Action Settlement

Claim Form Deadline: October 11, 2022

Estimated Payout: $5 (No Proof) - $20

Proof required: No

Method of payment: Cash

What's This Settlement About?

A $1,000,000 Class Action Settlement has been reached as the result of a lawsuit against Sara Lee for false advertisement. The original class action lawsuit alleged that Sara Lee products were marketed as "All Butter Pound Cake" although they contained soybean oil in addition to butter.

According to the original lawsuit allegations, consumers that purchased Sara Lee All Butter Pound Cake were misled and unaware that the product contained certain shortening ingredients such as soybean oil. The class action lawsuit argued that it was deceiving to consumers because they would "reasonably" expect upon reading the product label saying “All Butter” that the food would contain butter as its sole shortening ingredient. This is what the word "All" in "All Butter Pound Cake" would seem to imply, according to class action court documents.

Sara Lee Frozen Bakery, LLC has not accepted any wrong doing and denies the allegations of the class action lawsuit. However, they have settled in order to avoid any further litigation and court proceedings to avoid a resource waste away from its core business of producing and marketing food products.
