What Was the Case About?
The complaint alleged that Gotham Comedy Foundation, Inc. and related entities doing business as Gotham Comedy Club failed to properly disclose the service charge added to tickets bought through the club website, in alleged violation of New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law § 25.07(4). Who Was Covered?
The settlement class covered individuals in the United States who purchased an electronic ticket to Gotham Comedy Club in New York City through the Gotham Comedy Club website from August 29, 2022 through May 17, 2024, and who paid the $4.50 per-ticket service charge in connection with that purchase.Only tickets bought online through the club website for shows at the New York City venue were included. How Much Could Claimants Get?
An approved claimant was to receive a cash payment equal to the total service charges paid on eligible online ticket purchases during the class period, up to $4.50 per ticket.
