OpenClassActions.com is an attorney-advertising and informational resource — not a law firm. It does not provide legal advice and does not recommend or endorse any particular lawyer. Submitting a form on this page does not create an attorney-client relationship, file a lawsuit, or pause any legal deadline, and it does not guarantee that an attorney will review or respond to your case.
These claims are time-sensitive. Legal deadlines (statutes of limitations) vary by state and can permanently bar a claim once they pass — so don't wait for a callback. You are free to choose any attorney you wish, and if you are considering a claim you should speak with a qualified attorney of your choosing as soon as possible. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
Status: Active litigation — Uber MDL 3084 & Lyft MDL 3171 (ongoing)
What's Available: Individual legal claims — no settlement claim form or fund
Time Limits: Statutes of limitations apply and vary by state — don't wait
Survivors who experienced sexual assault, harassment, or other abuse during Uber or Lyft rides may qualify
for compensation. Lawsuits allege failures in screening, monitoring, and removing dangerous drivers, as well
as misleading safety messaging to riders. Public safety reports show thousands of reported incidents. Many
survivors can seek compensation even without a prior police report.
Uber's U.S. Safety Reports disclosed nearly 6,000 sexual assault incidents in 2017 and 2018. Lyft's safety
report identified more than 4,000 sexual assault incidents between 2017 and 2019. Sexual assault is often
underreported, so true counts may be higher. The federal multidistrict litigation in the Northern District
of California and coordinated California state cases continue to expand while courts oversee discovery,
bellwether selections, and settlement discussions.
You may qualify if:
• The incident occurred during an Uber or Lyft ride, pickup, or dropoff
• The incident involved sexual assault, attempted assault, or sexual harassment
• You have ride receipts, app history, contemporaneous notes, medical or therapy records, or other
supporting documentation
• Your claim is within your state's statute of limitations or discovery window
Potential recovery may include medical expenses, therapy, lost wages or earning capacity, and non-economic
damages for pain and suffering. Settlement values vary by facts. Individualized claims often proceed in
coordinated mass torts or MDL rather than a single class payout.

Federal MDL proceedings are active. The first Uber bellwether trial reached a verdict on February 5, 2026, when a jury awarded $8.5 million in compensatory damages; a second Uber bellwether in April 2026 found Uber liable but awarded $5,000 — a reminder that outcomes vary widely and prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. As of June 1, 2026, the Uber MDL (No. 3084) had about 3,571 pending federal actions and the separate Lyft MDL (No. 3171) had 54. Additional bellwether trials are expected later in 2026, and there is no global settlement claim form.
• Ride receipts or trip history from the app
• Medical records and therapy notes
• Messages to friends or family describing the incident
• Reports made to Uber, Lyft, or law enforcement
Survivors of rideshare abuse have reported many different forms of misconduct, ranging from harassment to
violent assaults.
Some of the most common types of abuse linked to Uber and Lyft rides include sexual abuse, attempted sexual
abuse,
forced kissing, groping or inappropriate touching, and in some tragic cases, rape. Victims may also suffer
related
physical injuries as a result of these assaults.
