What is the EpiSource LLC Data Breach About?
EpiSource LLC is a California software company that provides support for health plans and providers. EpiSource is a medical coding business. After a forensic investigation was conducted, EpiSource notified consumers that a data breach stemming from access to Amazon Web Services ("AWS") occurred in February 2023. According to the investigation, EpiSource consumer medical data was able to be exposed when a third party was able to get access to the information on AWS without prior authorization. The data belonged to EpiSource employees and customers.On June 2, 2023, the company notified the California Attorney General that their network had been breached in a security incident that exposed confidential customer data, which included the following personally identifiable information:
