What is the Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company Data Breach?
This class action investigation is closed to new claims. Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company (F&G), a life insurance and annuity company that serves more than 800,000 customers across the United States, has reported a data breach that exposed the names and Social Security numbers of some of its customers. The data breach occurred as a result of a third-party cyber security attack at Pension Benefit Information (PBI), a service provider that F&G uses for audit and address research services.According to the Attorney General of Maine, F&G notified the state of the data breach on June 20, 2023, after they were informed by PBI that an unauthorized party had accessed and downloaded data from PBI's servers on May 29 and May 30, 2023. The data included confidential information belonging to F&G customers, such as the following personally sensitive and identifiable information:
• Customer Names,
• Social Security numbers.
It is estimated that as many as 87,300 individuals were affected by the breach. F&G will began notifying customers on July 28, 2023.
F&G is a part of the Fidelity National Financial (FNF) family of companies, which is a Fortune 500 company that provides title insurance and settlement services to the real estate and mortgage industries.
