On December 9, 2022, Milan Eye Center was informed that iMedicWare's internal system had been breached by a hacker and confidential Milan Eye Center patient information had been accessed. The information exposed belonged to 67,336 individuals who had been patients of the eye center in 2020.
The personally identifiable information accessed by the hackers included:
• Full Names,
• Dates of Birth,
• Phone Numbers,
• Insurance Information,
• Social Security Numbers,
• Dates and Locations of Service,
• Protected Health Information (PHI).
This serious security incident exposed the sensitive information of 215,114 individuals.
