What is the Solutran Data Breach All About?

Did You receive a data breach notice letter from Solutran? If so, your sensitive personal identifiable information may have been stolen!

Solutran is a financial technology (FinTech, for short) company which supports other businesses. Solutran offers several services including EBT services, health savings accounts, payment processing, retail payment processing, as well as other financial products. Solutran recently notified the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that their company's internal network had been breached by an unauthorized third party, compromising the personal data of 17,728 individuals. You can find their report here which was submitted on May 12, 2023 and is categorized as a breached network server. It is unclear what information was accessed as of yet.

Data breaches are serious matters that can cause long term damage. Hackers break into networks so that they can steal your personal information to sell it on the dark web, commit identity theft, financial theft or other frauds. The theft of sensitive, protected health information, and personally identifiable information can lead to plethora of problems for individuals who are the victims of data breaches that occurred in databases they were not even aware of. Typically, the individual that may have been hacked includes the following:

• Social Security Number,
• Financial Information,
• Protected Health Information,
• Medical Information,
Other PII (Personally Identifiable Information)

Data breaches can also result in a long-term erosion of personal data privacy, as the hacked personally identifiable information may be traded or shared amongst cyber-criminals for years to come, on the internet, the dark web, or elsewhere.. This significantly increases the risk of further identity theft, financial fraud and massive headaches for consumers and victims.
