Payout: Pro rata share of net $1.8 million fund

What is the Enterprise Florida EEOC Settlement?

Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida, LLC has agreed to pay $1,800,000 to settle a class action lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleging the company engaged in a pattern or practice of age discrimination when hiring for its Management Trainee position. The case is EEOC v. Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida, LLC, Case No. 0:23-cv-61744, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

According to the EEOC's complaint, Enterprise refused to hire qualified applicants who were 40 years of age or older for Management Trainee positions in Florida, in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). The EEOC alleges Enterprise instead favored younger candidates despite the older applicants' qualifications. Enterprise denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and disruption of continued litigation.

The deadline to submit a Claimant Information Form is June 8, 2026. Filings are completed on the official settlement website.

Who Qualifies for the Settlement?

You may be eligible to file a claim if all of the following are true:

• You were 40 years of age or older at the time you applied.
• You applied to Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida for a Management Trainee position.
• Your application was submitted for a position in the state of Florida.
• You applied between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023.
• You were not hired for the position.

If you received a notice in the mail or by email from Simpluris, the court-appointed settlement administrator, you have been preliminarily identified as a potential class member. Even if you did not receive a notice, you can still submit a Claimant Information Form on the official settlement website if you believe you meet the criteria.

How Much Money Will I Get?

Enterprise agreed to pay a total of $1,800,000. After deducting court-approved attorney fees, service awards to the named claimants, and settlement administration costs, the remaining net fund will be distributed to eligible claimants.

Individual payments will be calculated on a pro rata basis, taking into account the total number of valid claims filed and the strength of each claim (for example, how closely the applicant's qualifications matched the Management Trainee criteria and how far the applicant advanced in the hiring process). The final per-person amount will not be known until after the claim period closes on June 8, 2026 and the administrator processes all timely submissions.

Payments to class members are considered back wages and other damages under the ADEA and will be reported on IRS tax forms. Claimants should consult a tax professional about how the payment will be treated on their personal return.

How Do I File a Claim?

You must submit a Claimant Information Form on or before June 8, 2026. The form is available on the official settlement website:

Official website: eeoc-enterprisesettlement.com

You will be asked to provide:
• Your full legal name and date of birth (to verify you were 40+ at the time of application).
• Contact information (email and address).
• The approximate date(s) you applied to Enterprise in Florida.
• Any documentation or information you have about your application (such as a confirmation email, rejection letter, or application reference number). Supporting documents are helpful but not required.
• A sworn certification that the information you are submitting is true and correct under penalty of perjury.

If you received a notice from Simpluris, your notice will include a Claim ID or confirmation code that pre-fills parts of the form and makes filing faster.

Is Proof Required?

You do not need to upload receipts or a paystub, but you must complete the Claimant Information Form and verify your identity and eligibility. If you kept your application confirmation email, rejection notice, or any correspondence with Enterprise about the Management Trainee role, include it with your submission — it will strengthen your claim. The settlement administrator will also cross-reference Enterprise's own application and hiring records to confirm eligibility, which means many qualifying applicants can be verified even without personal documentation.

What if My Confirmation Code or Claim ID Doesn't Work?

If you received a notice from Simpluris but your Claim ID or confirmation code isn't being accepted on the settlement website, try the following before giving up:

• Check the code for easily confused characters — zero (0) vs. the letter O, the number 1 vs. lowercase L, and I vs. 1 are the most common mix-ups.
• Copy and paste the code directly from the email if possible, and trim any leading or trailing spaces.
• Confirm the last name or ZIP code you are entering matches what was on your original application, not your current information.
• Try loading the site in a private or incognito window to rule out a stale browser session.
• If you did not receive a notice but believe you qualify, use the "File a Claim" option on the official website to submit a Claimant Information Form without a pre-assigned Claim ID — the administrator will review and verify it against Enterprise's application records.

If the site still returns an error, contact the settlement administrator through the contact link on the official settlement website before the June 8, 2026 deadline. Do not wait until the last day — identity verification issues can take several business days to resolve.

What are the Important Dates?

Class Period: January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023
Case Filed: 2023 (EEOC v. Enterprise Leasing Company of Florida, LLC)
Claimant Information Form Deadline: June 8, 2026
Exclusion / Objection Deadline: June 8, 2026
Final Approval Hearing: To be scheduled by the Court (see official website for updates)

When Will Payments Be Sent?

Payments will be issued after the Court grants final approval of the settlement and after any appeals are resolved. Final approval typically occurs several months after the claim deadline closes, so eligible claimants should expect payments in late 2026 or early 2027. Updates will be posted on the official settlement website.

What Happens If I Do Nothing?

If you qualify but do not submit a Claimant Information Form by June 8, 2026, you will not receive a payment from this settlement. Because this is an EEOC-enforced settlement resolving the Commission's claims rather than a traditional opt-out class action, you generally will not be releasing any individual claims by doing nothing — but you will also lose the opportunity to receive your share of the $1.8 million fund. If you want to exclude yourself or object to any terms, you must do so in writing by June 8, 2026 as described on the official settlement website.
