Update: A Settlement Has Been Reached
This case has moved past the investigation stage. A proposed settlement in Woytach v. Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services, Inc., Case No. 2025-CV-03681, received preliminary approval in the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, and a claim process is now open. Class members can claim up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses, or an alternate flat cash payment sized pro rata instead, plus one year of medical identity theft monitoring with either option. Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services in Scranton, PA recently announced a data breach which affected 22,215 people. Private health data belonging to these people was accessed by an unauthorized party who hacked into the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services computer system in October of 2024.
