What is the Honeywell Data Breach All About?

Did You receive a data breach notice letter from Honeywell? If so, your sensitive personal identifiable information may have been stolen and you may be owed compensation. Honeywell International, Inc. recently joined the list of companies that experienced a security breach to their internal network because of a bug in the MOVEit file transfer software they use. On September 14, 2023, Honeywell sent letters to 118,379 individuals whose data was exposed in their breach. If you were one of these individuals, you may be owed significant compensation due to the data breach exposing your personal information.

Honeywell is a large Fortune 100 company that builds security systems and electronics for commercial and residential customers, among other services and popular products. Honeywell employs about 100,000 employees worldwide, with a market company value over $100 Billion as of September 2023.

Because of the MOVEit software platform Honeywell uses being compromised, confidential files were exposed and accessed by an unauthorized third party. The files contained personally identifiable information belonging to consumers, which may have included the following:

• Full Names,
• Social Security Numbers.

This serious security incident exposed the sensitive information. Data breaches are serious matters that can cause long term damage, especially health care related data breaches. Hackers break into networks so that they can steal your personal information to sell it on the dark web, commit identity theft, financial theft or other frauds. The theft of such sensitive, protected health information, and personally identifiable information can lead to a plethora of problems for individuals who are the victims of data breaches that occurred in databases they were not even aware of.

Data breaches can also result in a long-term erosion of personal data privacy, as your personally identifiable information may be traded amongst cyber-criminals for years to come, on the internet or the dark web This significantly increases the risk of further identity theft, financial fraud and can create massive headaches for victims of data breaches.
