What is the USAA Data Breach Settlement?

A $3,250,000 class action lawsuit has been settled with USAA over allegations that the company failed to implement reasonable data security measures, resulting in unauthorized third-party access to personal information through its insurance quotation platform on or around May 6, 2021.

USAA recently sent out letters to at least 22,600 people regarding an incident which may have shared their private information with others. During USAA's internal company updates to their computer system, some members' insurance documents were incorrectly posted to other members' accounts. How Do I Qualify?

You may qualify for a payout if your personal information was accessed, stolen, or compromised as a result of the Data Incident on or around May 6, 2021, and you are listed on the Class List.

How Much Can I Get?

The payment amount will depend on the total number of eligible Settlement Class Members. Each member will receive an equal (pro rata) share of the Net Settlement Fund after deductions for taxes, court-awarded attorneys' fees and expenses, service awards, and administration and notice costs.

How Do I File a Claim?

To file a claim, submit a Settlement Payment Election online at the Settlement Website by April 7, 2025. You are not required to submit this information to the USAA settlement administrators. However, it is important to note that you may receive a payment from the Net Settlement Fund, but only if the USAA data breach class action settlement admins are able to locate you based on USAA's internal information.
