Who Is Included in the Memory Settlement?

U.S. purchasers of G.Skill desktop RAM, DDR4 with a rated speed over 2133 MHz or DDR5 with a rated speed over 4800 MHz, bought between January 31, 2018 and the date of Preliminary Approval.

How Much Can I Get

Payments are pro rata from the G.Skill class action settlement net fund. Your share depends on how many valid claims are filed and how many qualifying products you claim. Up to five products per household may be claimed without proof. Claims over five may require proof.

How To File a Claim

After Preliminary Approval, the class action administrator will launch the G.Skill settlement website with an online claim form, plus a mail option. Digital payments will be available, or you can request a paper check.

Deadlines and Payout Timing

Claim deadline is 60 days after the Notice Date. Objections and exclusions are also due 60 days after the Notice Date. Payments go out within 45 days after the settlement becomes effective, which is after final approval and any appeals.

Which G.Skill RAM Is Included

U.S. purchasers of G.Skill desktop memory are potentially included if they bought:

● G.Skill DDR4 desktop RAM kits with a rated speed higher than 2133 MHz
● G.Skill DDR5 desktop RAM kits with a rated speed higher than 4800 MHz

during the period from January 31, 2018 through the date of Preliminary Approval, for personal or household use.

Only desktop RAM is covered based on the proposed settlement language. Laptop (SO-DIMM) and server or enterprise modules are not the focus of this settlement.

Eligibility is based on rated speed and purchase date, not only on a specific list of model numbers. Many popular G.Skill high speed desktop lines include kits in the covered ranges, such as:

● Ripjaws V and other Ripjaws performance desktop kits

What Changes Will G.Skill Make

Packaging and product pages will state that the listed speed is an “overclocked speed,” and that reaching it requires BIOS adjustments. They will also state that performance depends on system components such as motherboard and CPU. The same note will appear in specs sent to resellers. Existing inventory can be sold through.

Notes

This is a proposed settlement. The Court must approve it. If more than 500 people opt out, defendants may terminate. If approved and final, payments will be issued by Angeion by digital methods or check. Uncashed checks after 180 days go to a Court-approved cy pres, currently Khan Academy.
