What Is the Current Progressive Leasing Refund Status?

The FTC's second Progressive Leasing distribution is historical. In September 2025, the agency sent 1,221,146 checks totaling more than $27 million. The checks were to be cashed within 90 days. The FTC did not create a public application for this round.

A recipient dealing with an old, lost, returned, or expired check should rely on the current instructions on the FTC refund page rather than an unofficial recovery service.

Why Did the FTC Send Refunds?

Progressive Leasing paid $175 million in 2020 to resolve FTC allegations that shoppers were misled about rent-to-own pricing, including 'same as cash' and 'no interest' representations. The company did not admit the allegations as part of the settlement.

Who Received the Second Checks?

According to the FTC, the second distribution went to people who cashed a first-round payment and paid Progressive Leasing $616.62 or more. The agency identified recipients using settlement records; consumers did not need to file a new claim.

How Can Consumers Verify a Refund?

Real FTC refunds do not require recipients to pay a fee, buy gift cards, send cryptocurrency, or provide an online-banking password. Verify the program through the official FTC.gov page. Be cautious with messages that promise to recover a refund for an upfront payment.

What Was the First Distribution?

The FTC first sent payments in June 2021, resulting in more than $143 million in refunds. Money remaining in the fund supported the September 2025 second distribution.
