What Happened
Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., a frozen fruit supplier in San Carlos, Chile, expanded its July 3, 2026 blueberry recall on September 2, 2026 to add one lot of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend sold at Walmart. The blend contains strawberries, blackberries and blueberries, and the company recalled it because of possible contamination with E. coli O145, a Shiga toxin-producing strain.The first notice listed Walmart stores in 16 states. A correction later added 11 more states and territories, and the FDA's outbreak page, updated September 11, puts distribution at 26 states and Puerto Rico. The company says no illnesses are associated with the triple berry blend and that it acted as a precaution, following traceback from the earlier recall of GreenWise blueberries sold at Publix.

How to Check Your Bag
Only one lot is recalled. Look for all of the following on a 10-ounce bag of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend:• lot code 6040 01-6, printed on the front of the package;
• best if used by February 9, 2028;
• UPC 7874211226.
The bags went to select Walmart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Puerto Rico. The recalled product should no longer be on shelves, but with a best-by date in 2028 it can still be in home freezers.
How to Get Your Refund
The recall notice gives two options: throw the berries away, or return them to Walmart for a full refund. It does not say a receipt is required. Bringing the bag, with the lot code and best-by date visible, lets the store match it to the recall.There is no online claim form or mail-in refund in the recall notice. Whatever you decide, do not eat the berries. After removing the bag, clean the freezer shelf and any containers or blenders the fruit touched.
The Outbreak Behind the Recall
The triple berry blend was pulled after an E. coli O145 outbreak linked to frozen organic blueberries from the same supplier. The FDA and CDC counted 17 people sick in Florida and Georgia, with illnesses starting between May 11 and August 2, 2026. Six were hospitalized and no deaths were reported. E. coli O145 infections can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea that may be bloody, and vomiting, usually starting a few days after eating contaminated food. Some people, especially young children and older adults, develop hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. Anyone who ate the recalled berries and has symptoms should contact a health care provider.
