What's This Settlement About?
A Settlement in the amount of $850,000 has been reached in order to provide consumers of Dewalt, PorterCable, and Stanley Black & Decker Abrasive wheel products. Specifically, the settlement addresses Organic bonded abrasive wheels sold under the DEWALT, Porter Cable, and Black & Decker brands. The original class action lawsuit alleges that the companies failed to provide adequate disclosures regarding the expiration date of the Covered Products. This resulted in a large class action settlement to avoid court proceedings.
Organic wheels are wheels which are bonded by means of an organic material such as resin, rubber, shellac, or other similar bonding agent. Absrasive wheels, or grinding wheels, are wheels that contain rough grains and layers of various materials such as fiberglasses that are bonded into a wheel shape by another substance such as rubber. The abrasive grains act as grinding tools, removing material from a workpiece to shape and sculpt it to a designed form. Abrasive wheels are useful in many grinding and machining operations, or finishing touches on projects.
