MNP Ltd. and its designated property appraiser use the Schedule of Loss and any supporting documents to estimate the actual cash value of the damaged property, meaning its depreciated value rather than the cost of buying it new. MNP decides whether each claimant is entitled to a share of the settlement funds and how much, and the claim form states that this decision is final and binding.
The class includes individuals, legal persons, businesses and estates. The claim form asks whether the stored goods were used mainly for personal or household purposes or mainly for business purposes, and each claimant can qualify as a residential customer or a business customer, not both.
The claim form has a section for the BigSteelBox customer’s full name and that customer’s relationship to the claimant when they are not the same person, such as a business or an estate represented by its executor. The customer ID and container number are requested only if known.
It is a received date. The claims administrator, MNP Ltd., must receive the completed claim form by 5:00 p.m. Pacific time on October 30, 2026. Claims received after that will not be considered, so a form mailed before the deadline but delivered after it does not count.
No. The opt-out deadline was May 7, 2026. Class members who opted out by then are not part of the settlement and are not eligible to make a claim.
