You may be part of a new $580 million group of class action settlements involving dozens of generic drug manufacturers accused of fixing or inflating the prices of commonly used prescription drugs between 2009 and 2019.

Consumers and health plans claim that generic drug makers illegally coordinated prices, forcing people and insurers to overpay for common medications like antibiotics, heart drugs, and dermatology treatments.

Several large settlements and Attorney General restitution programs have been reached over allegations that multiple generic popular drug companies conspired to fix the prices of common medication, raising prices for American consumers and limiting competition in the free market. These cases affect both consumers who paid for generic prescriptions and health insurers or employer plans that reimbursed them.

Which Drugs are Part of the Open Class Action?

There are hundreds of popular generic drugs included in the settlement, such as but not limited to:

• Albuterol (asthma inhaler generic)
• Amitriptyline (antidepressant)
• Digoxin (heart medication)
• Doxycycline (antibiotic)
• Glyburide / Glipizide (diabetes medications)
• Levothyroxine (thyroid medication)
• Metoprolol (blood pressure / heart)
• Pravastatin (cholesterol)
• Warfarin (blood thinner)
• Clomipramine (antidepressant / OCD)

How Do I Know If the Generic Drugs I Bought Are Included?

If you purchased or paid for any of the of the included generic prescription drugs you may be eligible to receive a payment from one or more of the current settlements.

The drugs and medications include many common generics such as antibiotics, heart medications, antidepressants, diabetes drugs, and thyroid treatments that were allegedly subject to price fixing by certain manufacturers between 2009 and 2019.

To check whether a specific drug you used or reimbursed for is included, review the complete drug list provided in the official “Long Form Notice” on the settlement website:

If you recognize any of the drugs you purchased on the list above, or your pharmacy records show that you paid for them during the covered period, you may qualify for a restitution payment once claims open.

Note: The list on this page is for general reference only and may not include every covered drug. Always rely on the official list and settlement notice when confirming eligibility.

Two Different Programs

There are two places people see for generic drug payments. They are different programs.

1) End-Payer Class Action Program
Official site: Generic Drugs Settlement
Covers consumer and third-party payer classes in the federal antitrust MDL. Class pages include Apotex/Heritage, Certified Litigation, and Sun/Taro.

2) Attorneys General Consumer Restitution
Official site: AGGenericDrugs.com
A separate consumer program run through State AG settlements. It has its own registration, documents, drug list, and timelines.

Who May Qualify for a Payout?

Consumers and third-party payers who bought or reimbursed certain generic drugs in the U.S. between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019, depending on the specific class and drug.

What's the Total Settlement Amount?

Together, these generic drug settlements represent one of the largest combined recoveries in U.S. pharmaceutical antitrust history, totaling more than $582 million across all End-Payer and AG consumer programs announced to date.

Many other defendants named in the larger lawsuit and MDL (Multi District Litigation) — including Actavis, Amneal, Teva, Lupin, Mallinckrodt, and Pfizer affiliates — remain in active litigation or have not yet finalized settlement amounts.

As additional potential open class action settlements are approved, new class pages will be added on the official End-Payer site.

What Does “End-Payer” Mean?

An End-Payer is anyone who ultimately paid for a covered generic drug — either out of pocket or through an insurance or employer plan that reimbursed the purchase.

The term covers two main types of payers:

Consumers (individual end-payers): People who personally bought the medication and paid all or part of the cost.

Third-party payers: Entities such as health insurance companies, union benefit plans, or employers that reimbursed those drug costs on behalf of consumers.

Both groups are considered “end-payers” because they bore the cost of the allegedly inflated drug prices, rather than the wholesalers or pharmacies who bought directly from the manufacturers.

In short:
Consumers = end-payers who pay directly.
Insurers and employers = third-party end-payers who reimburse those costs.

End-Payer Settlement Class Pages

• Apotex and Heritage Settlement Classes

Two proposed settlements for end payers are included in the federal antitrust case. These settlements are separate from another AG consumer program on AGGenericDrugs.com which has its own pool of settlement restitution. Consumers may qualify under one or both programs depending on where they bought prescriptions and who paid.

• Certified Litigation Classes

Court-certified classes that remain in active litigation. Claims open only after settlements or judgments.

• Sun and Taro Classes

New End-Payer settlements with Sun and Taro have preliminary approval. The page lists current notices and drug lists.

How to File a Claim - When Will the Claim Form Be Available?

The officialEnd-Payer settlement website does not yet have active claim forms open for consumers or insurers. As of October 2025, you can only register for updates to be notified when the claim portal launches.

Based on the current court filings and timelines, the first End-Payer claim forms (such as for the Sun and Taro settlements) are expected to open in late 2025 or early 2026, following final approval and publication of the long-form notice.

The separate Attorney General generic drugs restitution program also remains in its registration phase only, and will notify registrants directly by email once its state-by-state claim forms become available.

Are the Claim Forms Combined or Separate?

Each settlement group within the larger Generic Drugs litigation is handled separately.

This means that each end-Payer settlement (Apotex/Heritage, Certified Litigation, Sun/Taro) will have its own claim form once active. You must submit a separate claim for each class where you qualify. The Attorney General (AG) consumer program is distinct. It has its own registration, timeline, and claim process.

Consumers should check back here for updates to both class action and settlement claim forms. Both programs are independent, and filing on one site will not automatically count as a claim for the other.
