Skincare and aesthetic treatment device — Hydrafacial Syndeo class action settlement

What Is This Settlement About?

Hydrafacial LLC dba The Hydrafacial Company has agreed to a $925,000 settlement to resolve a class action brought by New York businesses that acquired the company's Syndeo aesthetic treatment device. The case, captioned Sol Tan Tanning & Spa, LLC et al. v. Hydrafacial LLC dba The Hydrafacial Company, Case No. 1:24-cv-08073-VEC, is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The lawsuit alleged that the Syndeo device contained defects or non-conformities, in violation of New York consumer-protection and warranty law. Hydrafacial denies the allegations and denies that it did anything wrong; it agreed to settle only to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation. No court has ruled on the merits of the claims. The settlement resolves the New York class claims, while a set of separate individual settlements resolves the claims of the non-New York plaintiffs named in the case.

Status Pending Final Approval Final Approval Hearing set for December 4, 2026.
Payment Method Automatic — No Claim Form Elect electronic payment by September 14, 2026 (optional); otherwise a check is mailed.
Estimated Payout Equal share of $925,000 Split equally among participating class members after fees & costs.
Proof Required Automatic Payment No claim form to file — class members are identified from the defendant's records.

Who Qualifies?

The settlement class generally includes any person or entity that purchased, leased, or otherwise acquired a Syndeo device within the state of New York on or before June 25, 2026. This is a business-focused class — the named plaintiffs are New York spas, med spas, and aesthetic providers that acquired the machine.

If you received a notice by mail or email about this settlement, you have been identified as a class member from Hydrafacial's own records. The exact, controlling class definition — including any exclusions — is set out in the Class Notice posted on the official settlement website. If you are unsure whether your device qualifies, review the notice before the deadlines below.

How Much Can You Get?

There are no fixed tiers. Every participating class member receives an equal share of the Available Settlement Fund — the amount left from the $925,000 fund after the court deducts attorneys' fees and costs (Class Counsel may request up to 30%, or $277,500), a service award to the class representative, and the costs of administering the settlement. Because the payment is split equally, the exact per-member amount depends on how many class members participate and cannot be calculated until then.

Do You Need to File a Claim?

No. This is an automatic-payment settlement. Because every class member can be identified from Hydrafacial's records, there is no claim form to complete and no documentation to upload. After the settlement becomes final, the settlement administrator, Atticus Administration, mails a check to the last known address on file for each eligible class member.

The one optional step is choosing how you are paid: class members who would rather receive an electronic payment — by Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, direct deposit, or a virtual e-Mastercard — can submit an online Election Form by September 14, 2026. If you do nothing, a paper check is mailed to you automatically. If your address has changed, update it through the official settlement website so your check reaches you.

Key Deadlines

Payments are expected within 60 days after the settlement becomes final and any appeals are resolved. Checks expire and become void 180 days after they are issued. Dates can change by court order, so check the official settlement website for the latest schedule.

Avoiding Scams

Because eligible class members are paid automatically, no one needs your bank login, Social Security number, or an up-front "processing fee" to release your payment. Anyone who contacts you demanding payment or sensitive financial details to "unlock" this settlement is not the legitimate administrator. Use only the official settlement website to confirm your status, update your address, or set your payment preference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to file a claim?

No. Payments are automatic. The administrator identifies class members from Hydrafacial's records and mails a check to the last known address on file. There is no claim form to submit.
