What Changed Recently?

After rejecting an earlier version in March 2026 because the class had not been shown to meet the requirements for certification, the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah preliminarily approved three settlements on June 22, 2026 in Combs v. SafeMoon LLC, the investor class action over the SafeMoon (SFM) cryptocurrency token. Former SafeMoon CEO Braden John Karony, also a defendant, opposed preliminary approval; the court granted it over his objection. Notices were then issued, and the administrator, Stretto, opened claims through the settlement website.

The case was filed in February 2022 in California, against SafeMoon entities, company executives and several celebrity promoters, and was moved to Utah later that year. The investors allege that SFM tokens were sold as unregistered securities and promoted through misleading solicitations. Jake Paul and Daniel Keem deny all wrongdoing and liability and settled without admitting any. SafeMoon US filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December 2023, so its settlement is with the bankruptcy trustee, Ellen E. Ostrow. Separately, a federal jury in Brooklyn convicted Karony in May 2025 of securities fraud conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy in a criminal case brought in 2023.

Who Qualifies?

Each settlement has its own class, and a buyer may belong to more than one:
The people named as defendants, including SafeMoon’s founders and former officers and directors, their immediate families and entities they control, are excluded.

How Much Can You Get?

None of the settlements pays a fixed amount. Each net fund is divided pro rata according to each claimant’s recognized loss:
A claimant’s recognized loss is what was paid for eligible SFM tokens bought from March 8, 2021 through November 1, 2023, minus anything received from selling them through December 14, 2023, matched first-in, first-out and converted to U.S. dollars at market prices on each date. Claimants with an overall market gain receive nothing, and a recognized loss cannot exceed a claimant’s actual market loss. Because the Paul and Keem funds are small compared with the trustee fund, their individual payments are likely to be modest.

What Proof or Notice ID Is Required?

No notice ID is needed, but the claims require identifying information. The Jake Paul and Daniel Keem claim forms ask for the claimant’s name and contact details, the last four digits of a Social Security or taxpayer ID number, and the wallet address or account used for SFM purchases, which the administrator verifies to calculate each claim. They also ask for a copy of an IRS Form W-9, a check box saying how the tokens were bought (directly or because of a solicitation), and a release signed under penalty of perjury. Claims are filed through DocuSign forms linked from the settlement website.

For the trustee settlement, people who already filed a proof of claim in SafeMoon US’s bankruptcy (Case No. 23-25749, Bankr. D. Utah) by July 22, 2024 do not need to file a Class Claim form, though the trustee may ask them for more information. The trustee keeps tokenholder claims confidential under a Bankruptcy Court order.

What Is the Deadline?

All three claim forms are due November 9, 2026: received by then if filed online, or postmarked by then if mailed. Missing the deadline may bar a claim. The deadlines to opt out and to object passed on October 1, 2026.

How Do You Take Action?

Claims are filed through the File a Claim page on the official SafeMoon settlement website, which links to a separate online form for the trustee Class Claim, the Keem settlement and the Paul settlement. The site’s Important Documents page has each notice, claim form, settlement agreement and the preliminary approval order.

What Happens Next?

Judge David Barlow will consider final approval, the fee requests and the awards to the lead plaintiffs at the hearing on October 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Orrin G. Hatch U.S. Courthouse in Salt Lake City. The notices say the hearing may move without further notice. Payments come only after final approval and any appeals. The trustee settlement also needs the Bankruptcy Court’s approval, and its distributions are made at the trustee’s discretion as that court approves; the trustee may object to individual proofs of claim in the Bankruptcy Court.

Questions

Do SafeMoon buyers have to file three separate claims?

Each settlement has its own claim form. People who already filed a proof of claim in SafeMoon US's bankruptcy by July 22, 2024 do not need a Class Claim form for the trustee settlement, but anyone seeking a share of the Jake Paul or Daniel Keem settlements must file a separate claim for each. All claims are due November 9, 2026.

Who qualifies for the Jake Paul SafeMoon settlement?

People who, between March 8, 2021 and November 1, 2023, bought SFM tokens directly from Jake Paul, or saw a solicitation for SFM tokens that Jake Paul published and bought SFM tokens because of it. Paul denies all wrongdoing and liability.

How much will SafeMoon claimants get?

There is no fixed amount. Each net fund is split pro rata by each claimant's recognized loss: what was paid for eligible SFM tokens from March 8, 2021 through November 1, 2023, minus anything received from selling them through December 14, 2023, using first-in, first-out matching. Claimants with an overall gain get nothing, and payments below $50 in the trustee settlement and below $10 in the Paul and Keem settlements are not made.

What do SafeMoon claim forms ask for?

The Jake Paul and Daniel Keem claim forms ask for the claimant's name, contact details, the last four digits of a Social Security or taxpayer ID number, and the wallet address or account used for SFM purchases, which the administrator verifies to calculate the claim. They also ask for a copy of an IRS Form W-9 and a signed release.

When will SafeMoon settlement payments be made?

Not until the court grants final approval and any appeals are over. The final approval hearing is October 22, 2026. The trustee settlement also needs Bankruptcy Court approval, and its distributions are made at the trustee's discretion as approved by that court.
