What the Lawsuit Alleged
The lawsuit alleged that advertising for Zicam-branded products misled consumers about the products' ability to shorten the duration of a cold or reduce the severity of cold symptoms. Church & Dwight denied the allegations and maintained that its advertising had scientific support.The settlement ended the disputed claims without a finding that the company violated the law.

Who Was Included
The settlement generally covered people who purchased a Zicam-branded product in the United States before October 17, 2024. The agreement used a household limit, so multiple people at one dwelling could not separately multiply the applicable cap.How the Cash Tiers Worked
A valid no-proof claim was scheduled at $2.50 per product for up to two products, or $5 per household. With acceptable proof of purchase, the scheduled amount was $5 per product for up to six products, or $30 per household.Payments were subject to proportional reduction if approved claims exceeded the money available for class benefits. The listed maximums were not guaranteed.
Labeling Changes
The settlement also required qualifying language and disclosures on Zicam labels, including language explaining that individual results may vary. That forward-looking relief was separate from cash payments.What Former Claimants Should Know
