How Do I Get My State Farm Dividend?

State Farm Mutual has started distributing its one-time $5 billion auto insurance dividend. Eligible customers with an email address already on file can use their dividend notice to select a digital payment or a check. Customers without an email address on file will receive a check automatically.

Start at the official State Farm Dividend Payment Portal, powered by Verita. This is a payment-selection process for qualifying policyholders, not an application for a class action settlement.

Who Qualifies for the 2026 Dividend?

The official dividend FAQ covers eligible private passenger auto policies issued by State Farm Mutual that were active at any point from January 1 through December 31, 2025. The payment must reach the $10 processing minimum. State assigned-risk policies are excluded.

Coverage did not have to remain active on December 31. Check the insurer named on the policy: New Jersey policies written by State Farm Indemnity Company or State Farm Guaranty Insurance Company do not qualify for this State Farm Mutual dividend.

How to Select a Payment Online

  1. Open the official dividend portal and select “Select Payment Option.”
  2. Choose the state or territory where the vehicle was insured in 2025, then continue.
  3. Follow the login instructions. Customers with a Dividend ID and PIN can use the credentials from their notice. If the portal offers “I DO NOT have a Dividend ID and PIN,” follow that route and supply the requested policy information.
  4. Select an available digital payment option or a check, and follow the instructions to complete the selection.

The official portal links to the State Farm payment-selection website. Choosing a payment method does not create eligibility for someone whose policy does not qualify.

How Much Will My Payment Be?

State Farm says the dividend averages about $100 per vehicle nationwide. That is an average, not a guaranteed payment. The amount depends on the premium paid for each qualifying policy in 2025 and the percentage assigned to the policy’s state, ranging from 4% to 10%.

The roughly $124 per-vehicle figure reported for Mississippi is a state average, not the nationwide amount or an individual entitlement. The payment notice and portal provide the amount for a particular policy.

When Will the Dividend Arrive?

State Farm announced on July 31, 2026, that payments had begun. Distribution covers more than 49 million vehicles and is expected to take several months nationwide. Different states and policies can receive payments at different times.

Follow the payment-selection instructions and dates in the individual notice. Cash a mailed check within the period stated in its accompanying letter. For missing notices or payment-status questions, use the official dividend contact page.

How Can I Avoid Dividend Scams?

State Farm says it will not charge a fee to release a dividend or request personal email, banking or digital-wallet passwords. Its dividend guidance also warns that it will not call asking for information about the dividend.

Verify the full sender address against State Farm’s official payment announcement before following an email link. Use the official portal linked above, and watch for lookalike domains. State Farm’s security guidance has additional fraud-prevention information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the State Farm dividend a class action settlement?

No. This is a one-time policyholder dividend from State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, separate from litigation and settlement claims.

Do former State Farm customers qualify?

Yes, if they had an eligible State Farm Mutual private passenger auto policy at any time in 2025 and meet the other eligibility rules.

What if I have more than one eligible policy?

Each eligible policy has its own payment and notice. Follow the instructions for each notice.

Can I apply the dividend to my insurance bill?

No. The dividend is paid separately and cannot be taken as a policy credit.

For separate litigation involving totaled vehicles, see the State Farm total-loss settlement update. That settlement has its own eligibility rules and is unrelated to the dividend.
