What Happened?

The lawsuit concerned unauthorized access to Bassett Furniture’s former ecommerce website between July 2021 and September 2023 and alleged that the defendant did not use reasonable safeguards for customer names, addresses, and financial-account information. The defendant denied the allegations and wrongdoing. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, delay, and uncertainty of continued litigation.

The settlement covered people mailed notice that their private information was potentially compromised in the Bassett incident.

What Benefits Were Available?

Class members could claim up to $2,000 for ordinary losses, up to $10,000 for extraordinary losses, qualifying lost time, and two years of credit monitoring. Alternative cash payments were $250, or $400 for qualifying California residents, subject to adjustment.

How Claims Were Filed

During the filing period, eligible class members could submit a claim online or use the paper form made available by the administrator. Documentation requirements depended on the selected benefit. The filing window is now closed.
