What Is This Settlement About?

Vector Security, Inc. is a Pennsylvania-based provider of home and business electronic security and alarm-monitoring services. According to the notice and the underlying complaints, Vector Security detected a targeted cyberattack on its computer network in December 2024, and an unauthorized party may have accessed files containing sensitive personal information the company maintained. Vector Security later reported the incident and began notifying affected people; the notices identified roughly 30,282 current and former employees, customers and other individuals. Plaintiffs allege Vector Security failed to adequately safeguard that information. Vector Security denies any wrongdoing, and no court has decided who is right; the parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of continued litigation.

The proposed class action is consolidated in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania under the lead case Doe v. Vector Security, Inc., Case No. 2:25-cv-01200, together with related cases including Wolf v. Vector Security, Inc. (2:25-cv-01241) and Andes v. Vector Security, Inc. (2:25-cv-01287). Under the proposed settlement, eligible class members can now file a claim for cash benefits and credit monitoring. The claim deadline is September 15, 2026. This page explains who qualifies, what you can get, and how to file.

Who Qualifies?

The Settlement Class is made up of the U.S. residents whom Vector Security notified that the December 2024 data incident may have compromised their private information. Vector Security's records identify approximately 30,282 people, and only people it notified are class members.

If you received a mailed or emailed notice about this settlement, the settlement administrator has already determined that you are a Settlement Class Member. If you are not sure whether you are included, you can confirm your status through the official settlement website.

How Much Can You Get?

Eligible class members can choose one of the following cash options, and separately enroll in credit monitoring:

Documented Out-of-Pocket Losses — reimbursement of up to $2,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses fairly traceable to the data breach. Covered examples include losses from identity theft or fraud; the cost of credit reports, credit monitoring, or a credit freeze or unfreeze; fees to replace a driver's license or other identification; and postage or other out-of-pocket costs incurred contacting financial institutions.

Lost Time — up to three hours of documented time spent dealing with the breach, compensated at $20 per hour (a $60 maximum), for tasks such as changing passwords, reviewing account statements for suspicious activity, and researching the incident.

Alternative Cash Payment — if you do not submit an out-of-pocket losses or lost-time claim, you can instead claim a single flat cash payment, estimated at about $50. Because the settlement's cash benefits may be adjusted pro rata depending on how many valid claims are filed, the final amount you receive could be higher or lower than the estimate.

Credit Monitoring — class members may also enroll in a period of credit-monitoring and identity-protection services offered under the settlement. This benefit is separate from the cash options above.

How to File a Claim

The deadline to submit a claim is September 15, 2026. You can file online at the official settlement website, Vector Settlement.com. To file online, sign in to the claim portal using the Login ID and PIN printed on the notice Vector Security sent you. If you are claiming reimbursement of out-of-pocket losses, you must upload reasonable documentation supporting each expense (for example, account statements showing unauthorized charges, receipts, or a police report). The lost-time and alternative-cash options do not require receipts.

If you cannot locate the Login ID or PIN from your notice, you can request assistance through the contact page on the official settlement website rather than filing without it.

Key Deadlines

If you do nothing, you remain in the Settlement Class and give up your right to sue Vector Security over the December 2024 data incident, but you will not receive any payment. To receive a benefit, you must submit a valid claim by September 15, 2026. Benefits are distributed only after the court grants final approval and the settlement becomes final; the settlement administrator is expected to issue payments to approved claimants after the final approval hearing scheduled for October 6, 2026.
