What Was the Case About?
Botanic Tonics, LLC, which makes and sells the feel free wellness tonic, agreed to an $8.75 million settlement resolving allegations that it marketed and sold the kratom-containing beverage without adequately disclosing the ingredient or warning consumers about the potential health risks associated with it. Botanic Tonics denies any misconduct and agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation.Kratom is a plant-derived substance often sold as a supplement and promoted for energy, mood, pain relief or easing opioid withdrawal.
