What Is the Lands’ End Data Breach Settlement About?
Did you receive a notice that your information was involved in the December 2024
Lands’ End Data Incident? A proposed class action settlement has been reached that
may entitle you to a cash payment and free credit monitoring. You can claim a
one-time Alternate Cash payment expected to be about $60 with no documentation, or
reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses. The claim
deadline is October 22, 2026.
The lawsuit, captioned Jones, et al. v. Lands’ End, Inc., Case No. 30301, is
pending in the Circuit Court for Iowa County, Wisconsin. The case concerns a data
security incident that affected a portion of Lands’ End's computer systems in
December 2024. According to the settlement notice, cybercriminals may have accessed
certain files containing personal information such as names, dates of birth, Social
Security numbers, driver’s license and/or passport information, and in limited
circumstances, medical information.
Lands’ End denies that it did anything wrong, and the court has not decided who is
right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the costs, risks, and uncertainty of
continued litigation. The official Settlement Website is at
LandsEndDataSettlement.com.
Who Qualifies for the Lands’ End Settlement?
The court has defined the Settlement Class as all persons residing in the United
States whose private information was compromised in the Data Incident. Class members
are identified in Lands’ End's records, and most received a notice directly from
Lands’ End or the Settlement Administrator.
Excluded from the class are: Lands’ End and its directors and officers; governmental
entities; the judge presiding over the case, along with the judge’s immediate family
and court staff; and anyone who timely and validly excludes themselves from the
settlement.
If you are not sure whether you are a class member, you can ask for free help
through the official Settlement Website, which provides a way to confirm your
eligibility and request a claim form.
How Much Can You Get?
Every Settlement Class Member may claim credit monitoring plus one of two cash
options. You choose the option that fits your situation.
• Cash Payment B — Alternate Cash (~$60, no receipts): A one-time cash
payment expected to be about $60.00. You do not have to provide any proof or
explanation to claim this payment. This is the simplest option for most class
members who did not have specific out-of-pocket losses.
• Cash Payment A — Documented Losses (up to $5,000): If you incurred
actual, documented out-of-pocket losses because of the Data Incident between
December 6, 2024 and October 22, 2026, you can be reimbursed up to $5,000.00.
Covered expenses can include losses from identity theft or fraud; fees for credit
reports, credit monitoring, or freezing and unfreezing your credit; the cost to
replace IDs; and postage to contact banks by mail. You must submit proof such as
bank statements or receipts. You cannot claim expenses already reimbursed by a third
party.
In addition to the cash option you choose, all class members receive two years of
CyEx Financial Shield Complete. This service includes $1 million of financial fraud
insurance and monitoring for fraud or identity theft, unauthorized financial
transactions, and personal information tied to high-risk transactions, along with
access to a fraud resolution agent. Enrollment codes were sent to class members by
postcard; if you no longer have your enrollment code, you can request a replacement
through the official Settlement Website.
Cash payments are issued by your chosen method: PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, a virtual
prepaid card, or a physical check mailed to your address. You select your payment
method on the claim form.
Class Counsel will ask the court to approve up to $285,000.00 in attorneys’ fees and
litigation costs, and service awards of $2,500.00 for each of the class
representatives. These amounts are paid by Lands’ End and are separate from the
class members’ benefits. The court will decide the final amounts at the Final
Approval Hearing.
Do I Need Proof to File a Lands’ End Claim?
Yes. To start a claim online you must log in with the Login ID and PIN printed
at the top of the notice that was mailed to you. Because that code identifies you as
a class member, this settlement counts as proof-required even for the $60 option. The
documentation needed then depends on which cash option you select.
• Login ID & PIN required to file. The Login ID and PIN appear at the
top of your mailed notice. If you cannot locate them, you can request them through the
official Settlement Website by providing your full name and mailing address.
• Alternate Cash (~$60): No supporting documentation is required beyond
your Login ID and PIN. You do not have to provide any proof or explanation of losses.
• Documented Losses (up to $5,000): Supporting documents are required. You
must submit bank statements or receipts showing your expenses or losses and that they
were caused by the Data Incident. You may add a written explanation to support other
proof, but a self-written note alone is not enough to make a valid claim.

settlement payments will be distributed after the settlement becomes final. If

What Happens If I Do Nothing?
Unless you opt out, you remain part of the settlement. If you do nothing, you will

must file a claim form before the October 22, 2026 deadline.
How to Opt Out or Object
Class members who do not want to be bound by the settlement have two alternatives,
both due October 7, 2026.
Opting out (Request for Exclusion). If you opt out, you will not receive
settlement benefits, but you keep any right to sue Lands’ End on your own about the
issues in this case. A valid request must include the case name and number, your
full name and contact information, your signature, and a clear statement that you
want to be excluded. It must be submitted, postmarked, or emailed by October 7,
2026, following the instructions on the Settlement Website.
Objecting. If you do not opt out, you may object to the settlement by writing
to the court about why you do not like it, and you may ask to speak at the Final
Approval Hearing. You can still file a claim even if you object. Objections must be
filed with the Clerk of Court and copied to the Settlement Administrator, Class
Counsel, and Defendant’s counsel by October 7, 2026, and must meet the content
requirements described in the official Notice.
Watch Out for Settlement Scams
With any data breach settlement, a few common-sense precautions help protect you.
• Use the official Settlement Website only:LandsEndDataSettlement.com.
Be cautious of any email or text linking to a different domain.
• Never pay a fee. Legitimate class action settlements never require a
payment to release your benefits.
• Be skeptical of requests for excessive personal information. The
Settlement Administrator does not need your full banking passwords or login
credentials to process a claim.
Other Active Data Breach Settlements
Data breach class action settlements have become one of the most common categories
of consumer litigation. If you received a Lands’ End notice, you may also be in the
class for other unrelated breaches. Class membership in one case does not affect
your eligibility for another. You can browse more open cases on our
hot data breach settlements
