Lemonade $10.5M Data Disclosure Class Action Settlement

If you got a Lemonade data-breach notice, you can claim up to $10,000 in documented losses or a pro rata cash payment, plus three years of free credit monitoring.
Lemonade, Inc. and Lemonade Insurance Agency, LLC have agreed to a $10,500,000 class action settlement over a data exposure involving Lemonade's online insurance quote platform. Between April 2023 and September 18, 2024, cybercriminals allegedly entered unauthorized information into the quote system and were able to obtain personal information — including driver's license numbers — belonging to approximately 190,000 people.
The consolidated lawsuit, In re Lemonade, Inc. Data Disclosure Litigation, is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. It asserts claims for negligence, violation of the Driver's Privacy Protection Act, and violation of New York General Business Law Section 349. Lemonade denies any wrongdoing and disputes liability, but agreed to settle to avoid the costs and risks of trial. If you were notified that your information was compromised, you can file a claim before the September 8, 2026 deadline.
This is the third Lemonade-related class action we have covered — it is separate from the now-closed $4.995M Lemonade life insurance privacy settlement, which involved health information shared during life insurance applications.

Who Qualifies?
The settlement class consists of all living U.S. residents whose personal information was compromised in the data exposure, including everyone who was sent a notice of the data exposure. Those notices were mailed in April 2025 and June 2025 and informed recipients that personal information such as their driver's license number was compromised.
If you received one of those notices, you are a settlement class member. If you are not sure, you can check the official settlement website at lemonadedatadisclosuresettlement.com.
How Much Can You Get?
Settlement class members may choose one or both cash benefits, and everyone automatically receives the monitoring benefit:
• Documented Loss Payment: reimbursement of up to $10,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses incurred on or after April 1, 2023 that are more likely than not traceable to the data exposure. You must submit reasonable documentation — self-prepared documents such as handwritten receipts are not enough on their own. If a documented-loss claim is rejected and not cured, it is automatically converted to a cash fund claim.
• Cash Fund Payment: a pro rata cash payment from what remains of the $10.5 million fund after administration costs, fees, service awards, and the cost of the monitoring benefit and approved loss claims. The exact amount depends on how many valid claims are filed.
• Credit Monitoring and Insurance Services (automatic): every class member received a unique code in the postcard notice to activate three years of credit monitoring and insurance services, including three-bureau credit monitoring and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance. No claim form is needed for this benefit, but enrollment opens only after the court grants final approval.
How to File a Claim
The fastest way to file is online through the official settlement website. You can also download a claim form from the settlement website and mail it to the settlement administrator (Kroll Settlement Administration), or request a mailed paper claim form. You will generally need the information printed in your postcard notice, such as your Class Member ID, when filing.
If you lost or never received your notice, or do not know your unique monitoring activation code, use the “Contact Us” form on the official settlement website to request that information. Submit your claim at lemonadedatadisclosuresettlement.com before the deadline.
Important Deadlines
The deadline to submit a claim is September 8, 2026 — online by 11:59 p.m. ET, or postmarked by that date for mailed forms. The deadline to opt out of, or object to, the settlement is August 7, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. ET in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York; the date and time may change, so check the official settlement website for updates.
Beware of Scams
Legitimate settlement administrators never ask you to pay a fee to file a claim or to receive a payment. File only through the official settlement website and never share more information than the claim form requires.
