What Was This Case About?

The lawsuit alleged that Oracle advertising technologies improperly captured, compiled, and sold or otherwise made available individuals’ online and offline data without consent. Oracle denied the allegations and wrongdoing.

Who Was Covered?

The class includes United States residents whose personal information or derived data was acquired, captured, collected, or made available through specified Oracle advertising products from August 19, 2018 through final judgment.

What Oracle Agreed to Change

The settlement includes nonmonetary relief in addition to the fund. No later than the effective date, Oracle is to certify that, for as long as it offers the products and services described in the complaint, it will not capture user-generated information within referrer URLs or text entered by a user into an online web form, except on Oracle’s own websites, and will implement an audit program to reasonably review customer compliance with contractual consumer privacy obligations. Class members release known and unknown claims relating to the allegations in exchange for the settlement benefits.

How Are Payments Calculated?

The net settlement fund is divided pro rata among approved claims after permitted deductions. Claimants who filed valid claims do not need to submit a new claim, but should rely on the official site for distribution updates.
