What's the $2M State Farm Claim Underpayment Settlement?
State Farm has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for over $2,000,000. The class action lawsuit claimed that State Farm Fire and Casualty Company failed to adequately pay for "diminished value" losses under its underinsured motorist property damage coverage in Washington State insurance policies.
The class action lawsuit alleges that when certain automobiles sustain structural damage, they cannot be fully repaired to their pre-accident condition, leading to a loss in value. State Farm denies any wrongdoing and contends that it paid appropriate amounts for diminished value as part of its regular claim adjusting process.
What is the Total Settlement Amount?
The total settlement amount is $2,091,200.00.
How Do I Qualify For a Payout?
To potentially qualify for a payout, you must be a State Farm insured whose vehicle repairs were covered under the underinsured motorist property damage provision of a policy issued in Washington State, and meet the following criteria:
• The repair estimate on the vehicle (including any supplements) totaled at least $1,000.
• The vehicle was no more than six years old (model year plus five years) and had less than 90,000 miles on it at the time of the accident.
• The vehicle suffered structural (frame) damage and/or deformed sheet metal and/or required body or paint work.
You may not be eligible if your claim involved a leased vehicle, your vehicle was declared a total loss, or the accident did not occur between March 23, 2012, and February 13, 2024.
