The lawsuit alleged that State Farm Fire and Casualty Company did not fully compensate certain Washington insureds for diminished value under uninsured or underinsured motorist property-damage coverage. Which Vehicle Claims Were Potentially Covered?
The settlement generally involved State Farm insureds whose Washington UMPD coverage paid for vehicle repairs after an accident between March 23, 2012 and February 13, 2024. The repair estimate, including supplements, had to total at least $1,000. At the time of the accident, the vehicle generally had to be no more than six years old and have fewer than 90,000 miles. Leased vehicles and vehicles declared a total loss were not within the core eligible group because the settlement focused on the post-repair reduction in value of owned vehicles.
