You may be part of a new $2,225,000 class action settlement reached with Target Corporation over allegations that the company's job postings for open positions in Washington State did not disclose the wage scale or salary range being offered, in violation of Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunities Act (RCW 49.58.110).

If you applied for a job at Target in Washington between January 1, 2023 and July 26, 2025, and the job posting didn't include a salary range or description of benefits, you may be eligible for a minimum estimated payment of $1,711.93.

Target denies any wrongdoing, and the settlement still requires final Court approval.

What is the Target Washington Class Action Settlement About?

According to the official notice, the lawsuit claims that Target violated Washington law (RCW 49.58.110) when it allegedly did not disclose the wage scale or salary range being offered on job postings for open positions in the state.

Under Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, employers with 15 or more employees are required to include the wage scale or salary range and a general description of benefits and other compensation in each job posting.

The case is Brinkman v. Target Corporation, Case No. 24-2-25091-3 SEA, pending in King County Superior Court before Judge Michael R. Scott.

The Court has not decided who is right as part of the settlement process. The parties agreed to a settlement to avoid the uncertainty, risks, and expense of ongoing litigation.

What is the Total Settlement Amount?

The maximum settlement fund is $2,225,000. The actual amount paid out depends on how many class members submit a claim. After deducting court-approved attorneys' fees ($656,375), costs and expenses ($5,000), and a service award to the class representatives ($20,000), the remaining funds will be divided equally among all eligible class members who file a valid claim.

How Do I Qualify For a Payout?

You may qualify if you applied for a job opening in Washington State with Target Corporation between January 1, 2023 and July 26, 2025, where the job posting did not disclose the wage scale or salary range and/or a general description of benefits or other compensation.

If you received a notice in the mail from the Settlement Administrator (Simpluris, Inc.), Target's records indicate you are an eligible class member.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, you can contact the Settlement Administrator at 1-(833) 647-9003 or email Info@EPOASettlement-Jan-02-2026.com.

How Much Can I Get Paid?

The estimated minimum payment is $1,711.93 per eligible class member.

All class members who submit a timely, valid claim form will receive an equal share of the settlement fund. The actual payment could be higher than the estimated minimum depending on how many people file claims — fewer claims means a bigger check for each person.

Settlement payments will be characterized as non-wage damages and reported on a 1099 tax form.
