California residents who purchased discounted mattresses from Tuft & Needle's website
between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2024 are eligible to claim refunds under a
$3 million class action settlement. The settlement resolves a lawsuit that alleged Tuft
& Needle deceptively advertised discounts on its website, tuftandneedle.com.
The case, Emily Chebul v. Tuft & Needle, LLC, is pending in the Superior Court of
the State of California for the County of San Diego, Case No. 25CU059198N. The
settlement is preliminarily approved and moving toward a final approval hearing on
July 10, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. PT. If approved, eligible class members will receive
refunds equal to 45% of the discount Tuft & Needle advertised on their mattress
purchases.
Each class member receives 45% of the discount that Tuft & Needle claimed you would
receive on your mattress purchase. For example, if the company advertised a $100
discount on your purchase, you would receive $45 under this settlement. If you
purchased multiple mattresses during the settlement period (January 1, 2020 through
December 31, 2024), your refund covers all purchases.
The settlement covers approximately 40,147 discounted mattress purchases made during
the class period. Based on that estimate, the total value of refunds to be distributed
is approximately $2,995,000. This breaks down to an average of approximately $75 per
mattress purchase.
Your actual refund amount depends on the specific discounts Tuft & Needle advertised
on the mattresses you purchased. Customers who bought multiple mattresses at
different discount levels will have each discount calculated and their refund will
reflect 45% across all purchases.
You have two options for how to receive your settlement refund.
Option 1: Cash Refund
If you submit a valid claim form by July 14, 2026, you can choose to receive your
refund as cash. The payment will be sent to you by check or electronic transfer (your
choice). There are no restrictions on how you use the cash — it's yours to keep,
spend, save, or use however you wish.
Option 2: Website Store Credit (Automatic if You Don't Submit a Claim)
If you do not submit a claim form by July 14, 2026, you will automatically receive
your refund as website store credit on tuftandneedle.com. This credit can be applied
toward any purchase on the Tuft & Needle website. Key facts about the store credit:
• Valid for three years after the settlement is finally approved
• Can be used toward any purchase at tuftandneedle.com (no blackout dates or
restrictions)
• Can be combined with other discounts or offers
• Is transferable to other people (you can gift it)
• Can be split across one or multiple orders
The simplest rule: if you want cash, submit the claim form by July 14, 2026. If you
don't submit a form by that date, you'll get store credit instead.
You are a class member if all of the following apply:
• You purchased one or more mattresses from tuftandneedle.com
• The mattress was advertised at a discount when you purchased it
• Your purchase was made between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2024
• You were a California resident at the time of your purchase
• You did not cancel the order or receive a refund for every mattress you
purchased from Tuft & Needle
Excluded from the class: Tuft & Needle employees, officers, and directors are
excluded. Anyone who entered into a separate legal release with Tuft & Needle before
this settlement is also excluded. If you canceled or got a refund for all of your
orders, you don't qualify.
To receive a cash refund, you must submit a claim form by July 14, 2026. If you
don't submit a form by that deadline, you'll automatically get website store credit
instead.
Claim online (fastest option): Go to www.tnpricesettlement.com and log in with
the Notice ID and Confirmation Code printed on the personalized notice you
received by mail or email, then fill out and submit the claim form directly through
the website. Enter the full Notice ID exactly as it appears on your notice. If you
can't find your Notice ID or Confirmation Code, use the contact options on the
official settlement website to request them.
Claim by mail: Print the claim form from www.tnpricesettlement.com, fill it
out, sign it, and mail it postmarked by July 14, 2026.
What you'll need to attest: On the claim form, you must certify under penalty
of perjury that:
• You were a California resident when you purchased your mattress
• You purchased one or more mattresses advertised at a discount from
tuftandneedle.com during the class period (January 1, 2020 through December 31,
2024)
• The information you provide on the form is true and correct
Multiple purchases: If you made more than one qualifying mattress purchase
during the class period, you only need to submit one claim form. Your refund will
include payment for all discounted mattresses you bought during the settlement period.
June 14, 2026: Deadline to opt out (exclude yourself from the settlement) or
file an objection. If you opt out, you won't receive any refund but you keep the
right to sue Tuft & Needle separately.
July 10, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. PT: Final Approval Hearing before the court. The
judge will decide whether to approve the settlement. You don't need to attend, but you
can if you want.
July 14, 2026: Claim form deadline. Submit your claim form by this date to
receive a cash refund. If you don't submit by this date, you'll automatically get
website store credit instead.
The lawsuit alleged that Tuft & Needle violated California consumer protection laws by
deceptively advertising discounts on its website. Specifically, the claims alleged that
the company's marketing of various discounts was misleading or deceptive.
The lawsuit also included claims for breach of contract, breach of express warranty,
intentional misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment.
Tuft & Needle denies all allegations and denies any liability or wrongdoing. The
company has not admitted to any violation or wrongdoing. Both sides agreed to settle
the case to avoid the time, expense, and risk of a trial.
The Court will hold a Final Approval Hearing on July 10, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. PT. If
approved at that hearing, the settlement then enters a window where people can appeal
the Court's decision. Appeals can take several months or more than a year to resolve.
Settlement refunds will be distributed after the settlement is finally approved and
all appeals (if any) have been fully resolved. Check www.tnpricesettlement.com
regularly for updates on the settlement status and distribution timeline.
Website store credits provided under the settlement are valid for three years after
the settlement is finally approved. So if the settlement becomes final in late 2026,
the credits would be good through late 2029. You can use them anytime during that
window toward any purchase on tuftandneedle.com with no restrictions, blackout dates,
or minimums.
The lawsuit was brought by Emily Chebul on behalf of all California buyers of
discounted Tuft & Needle mattresses. She is represented by Simon Franzini and Grace
Bennett of Dovel & Luner, LLP, who have experience in similar cases.
The Court has approved these lawyers as Class Counsel to represent you and all other
class members. Class Counsel may request up to $748,824 in attorneys' fees and costs,
and an incentive award of up to $5,000 to the class representative. Settlement
administration costs of approximately $48,000 are also paid separately. These fees
and costs come from Tuft & Needle's settlement payment and will not reduce your refund.
Class action settlements attract scammers who try to trick people into paying fake fees
or providing sensitive personal information.
• Official settlement administration is free. No one will ask you to pay a fee to
process your claim or release your refund.
• Never give out your full Social Security Number, full credit card number, or
bank account password to anyone claiming to handle this settlement.
• Use the official settlement website only: www.tnpricesettlement.com. Type the
URL directly into your browser.
• If you receive a check, verify it through your bank before depositing.

Do I have to do anything to get my refund?
If you want cash, you must submit a claim form by July 14, 2026. If you don't submit
a form by that date, you'll automatically receive website store credit instead. Either
way, you'll get your refund.
What if I can't remember the exact discount I received?
You should provide the best information you can remember. Tuft & Needle has records of
your purchases and the advertised discounts. If you have your original order
confirmation email or receipt, that will help.
Can I get both cash and store credit?
No. You choose one or the other. Submit a claim form by July 14, 2026 to get cash, or
do nothing to get automatic store credit.
What if I'm not sure if my purchase qualifies?
The key questions: Did you buy from tuftandneedle.com? Was it advertised at a
discount? Was it between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2024? Were you a California
resident? If yes to all, you likely qualify. If you're still unsure, you can find
more details or reach the settlement administrator through the contact options on the
official settlement website.
Can I opt out of the settlement?
Yes. You can exclude yourself from the settlement by sending a letter postmarked by
June 14, 2026 to the Settlement Administrator (address on the settlement website). If
you opt out, you won't get a refund, but you keep the right to sue Tuft & Needle
separately.
