If you received marketing text messages from Albertsons, Safeway, Star Markets, or any other associated brands after requesting not to receive them, you may be owed up to $100 or more from a nearly-$6,000,000 class action settlement with Albertons. Albertsons company has settled the massive class action over allegations that it violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by sending such spam text messages to consumers. Albertsons Companies, Inc. is one of the largest grocery and pharmacy retailers in the U.S.
Back in early 2025, Albertsons got hit with a lawsuit claiming they kept texting people even after customers replied “STOP.” One of the lead plaintiffs, Jennifer Schofield, said she had been on the Do Not Call list since 2006, but still got repeated marketing texts from Albertsons in 2024 even after opting out multiple times.
That lawsuit grew into a class action where consumers across the U.S. said the same thing happened to them. The case accused Albertsons of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by ignoring requests to stop.
Fast forward, Albertsons agreed to a $5.95 million settlement that covers anyone in the U.S. who got more than one marketing text from Albertsons (or its brands like Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw's, Tom Thumb, etc.) within 12 months after telling them to stop. If you qualify and file a claim, you could get an estimated payout of at least $100 from the settlement fund.
The total settlement fund is $5,950,000. After attorneys' fees, costs, and settlement administration expenses are deducted, the remaining amount will be distributed to class members who submit valid claims on time.
You may qualify if you received two or more marketing texts from Albertsons, Safeway, or their brands within any 12-month period after submitting an opt-out request between June 1, 2023 and preliminary approval.
