What Is the Settlement About?

The lawsuit, Galdun v. Lowe Engineers, LLC, Case No. 26CV003778, is pending in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia. Lowe Engineers is a professional engineering and surveying firm based in Atlanta. The case concerns a targeted cyberattack on Lowe’s computer systems in December 2024, in which, according to the settlement notice, files containing private information were accessed.

The complaint, filed March 16, 2026, alleges that the intrusion began on December 27, 2024, was detected on January 12, 2025, and was stopped on January 14, 2025, and that Lowe began notifying affected people, who it says are mainly current and former employees, on October 2, 2025. Lowe denies that it did anything wrong, and the court has not decided who is right. The parties settled to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation.

Who Qualifies?

The settlement class is all individuals to whom Lowe provided notice that their personal information was potentially affected by the data incident. Membership is decided solely by Lowe’s records of who was sent that notice. Lowe and its officers, directors and related companies, anyone who opts out, the judge and the judge’s family and staff, and anyone who carried out the attack are excluded.

According to the notice, the files involved may have contained names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport numbers, other government ID numbers, bank account and routing numbers, payment card numbers and expiration dates, medical information and health insurance information. The information varies by person.

How Much Can You Get?

Every class member is eligible for credit monitoring, and can then choose documented-loss reimbursement or a flat cash payment: Expenses already reimbursed by someone else cannot be claimed. The notice does not describe an overall cap or pro rata reduction. Attorneys’ fees and costs of up to $125,000 and a $2,500 service award, if approved, are paid by Lowe separately.

What Proof Is Required?

The online claim form opens with the Login ID and PIN printed on the notice; the settlement administrator resends them to class members who ask with their full name and mailing address. A paper claim form can be downloaded from the settlement website instead. Loss claims need receipts or similar proof, and self-prepared notes alone are not enough. The $50 alternative payment needs no proof.

What Are the Deadlines?

How to File a Claim

Claims are filed on the official Lowe Data Incident settlement website using the Login ID and PIN from the notice, or by sending the paper claim form by January 13, 2027. Online claims can choose payment by PayPal, Venmo or Zelle; paper claims are paid by mailed check.

What Happens Next?

The court will schedule a final approval hearing, where it will decide whether to approve the settlement, class counsel’s fee request and the service award. If the settlement is approved, payments are distributed after any appeals are resolved. The court appointed Strauss Borrelli PLLC as class counsel. Simpluris runs the settlement website.
