What Is This Settlement About?
System Pavers, LLC, a California-based outdoor-living and paving contractor headquartered in Santa Ana, has agreed to a $350,544 class action settlement to resolve claims arising from a cyberattack on its computer network in the fall of 2024. According to the notices sent to affected people, an unauthorized actor accessed certain files between September 20 and October 4, 2024, and those files could have contained personal information, including names and Social Security numbers.The lawsuit, brought by a former System Pavers salesperson, alleges that the company failed to adequately safeguard the personal information of its current and former employees. System Pavers denies any wrongdoing, and no court has found it liable. The two sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation. What Happened?
On or about October 4, 2024, System Pavers became aware of suspicious activity affecting systems within its network. The company launched an investigation and, according to its breach notice, determined that an unauthorized actor had accessed certain data between September 20 and October 4, 2024. System Pavers began notifying affected individuals on or about March 3, 2025, and later reached this settlement to resolve the resulting class action.The information involved could include your name and Social Security number. The underlying complaint alleges that the ransomware group known as "Medusa" claimed responsibility for the attack and reportedly demanded a $1 million ransom — those are allegations from the complaint and reporting it cites, not facts established by a court. System Pavers has said it has no indication that any individual's information was misused as a result of the incident.

Who Qualifies?
The settlement class is defined as all individuals residing in the United States whose personal information was potentially compromised in the Data Security Incident experienced by System Pavers, including everyone who was notified. In practice, the affected people are largely System Pavers' current and former employees, whose names and Social Security numbers were among the data at issue.Excluded from the class are System Pavers and its officers, directors, and related companies; anyone who validly opts out; the judge and the judge's family and staff; and anyone who perpetrated the incident. If you received a mailed or emailed settlement notice with a unique LoginID and PIN, you have been identified as a class member and will need that LoginID and PIN to file your claim online.
How Much Can You Get?
You may claim one of two cash options, and every class member can also enroll in credit monitoring:Documented losses. If you had actual, documented, unreimbursed out-of-pocket losses because of the incident, you can be reimbursed up to $3,000. Covered losses can include costs from identity theft or fraud, fees for credit reports or credit freezes, the cost to replace IDs, and postage to contact banks. The losses must have occurred between September 20, 2024, and September 28, 2026, and you cannot claim expenses that a third party already reimbursed. You need supporting proof such as bank statements or receipts.
Lost time. If you spent time responding to the incident — for example, changing passwords, checking accounts, or researching the breach — you can claim up to four hours at $20 per hour, for a maximum of $80. You must briefly describe how you spent the time, and this amount counts toward the $3,000 loss cap.
Alternative cash payment. Instead of the options above, you can claim a one-time cash payment with no documentation required. It is expected to be $100 for California residents and $80 for residents of all other states, and it may be adjusted up or down depending on how many claims are filed.
Three years of credit monitoring. Separately, all class members are eligible to enroll in three years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, which includes $1,000,000 in financial fraud insurance and monitoring for identity theft and unauthorized or high-risk financial transactions, with access to a fraud-resolution agent if a problem comes up.
What Proof Do I Need?
You do not need receipts to claim the alternative cash payment. You do, however, need the unique LoginID and PIN printed on your mailed or emailed settlement notice to file the claim online. Because filing is gated on that administrator-issued identifier, this settlement is treated as proof-required: a person who never received a notice cannot simply file online without it. If you choose the documented-loss option, you must also attach supporting records such as bank statements or receipts.If you believe you are a class member but cannot locate your LoginID and PIN, you can request them through the official settlement website rather than filing blind.
