Settlement Relief: Warranty Extension and Reimbursement

Claim Form Deadline: May 16, 2026

What is the Ram EcoDiesel EGR Cooler Class Action?

A new open class action lawsuit has been settled over allegations that certain Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks were equipped with defective exhaust gas recirculation coolers.

The class action lawsuit claims the EGR coolers were susceptible to thermal fatigue, which could cause cracking over time and coolant leaks.

According to the notice, coolant leaks may lead to combustion in the intake manifold and in some cases a vehicle fire.

FCA US denies all wrongdoing, and the Court has not ruled on the merits. The case is being resolved through a proposed settlement to avoid further litigation.

What is the Total Settlement Amount?

The settlement does not establish a single consumer cash fund.

Instead, the settlement provides a warranty extension, reimbursement for certain out of pocket expenses subject to a $750,000 cap, and a $3,000 payment option for qualifying vehicle fires.

How Do I Qualify For a Payout?

You may qualify if you purchased or leased in the United States a model year 2014 to 2019 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel truck manufactured between June 12, 2013 and October 23, 2019.

You do not need to have experienced an EGR failure to receive the warranty extension.

How Much Can I Get Paid?

Benefits under the settlement may include:

• A five year EGR cooler warranty extension following a replacement under Recall VB1
• Reimbursement for tow truck, rental car, and coolant costs related to an EGR failure
• A $3,000 payment for a qualifying vehicle fire caused by a failed EGR cooler

How Do I File a Claim

Claims must be submitted to the Settlement Administrator by May 16, 2026.

Claims may be submitted online, by email, or by mail with required documentation.

Is Proof Required to File a Claim?

Yes. Proof of ownership and supporting documentation are required for reimbursement and fire claims. No documentation is required to receive the warranty extension.
