What is the NorthCare Data Breach Settlement?

You may be part of a new class action settlement reached with North Oklahoma County Mental Health Center (also known as NorthCare) over allegations that the company failed to protect patient and employee information during a May 2021 data breach that exposed personal and health information (PII and PHI).

The proposed class action settlement was reached in a case known as Ana Chavez Maendele, et al. v. North Oklahoma County Mental Health Center, d/b/a NorthCare, Case No. CJ-2022-279, in the District Court of Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. The class action lawsuit alleges that on or about May 29, 2021, a hacker gained access to NorthCare systems led to illegal acquisition of personally identifiable and health information of consumers. NorthCare denies wrongdoing but has settled the class action complaint to avoid further litigation.

Who is Included in the Northcare Data Breach Class Action?

All living individuals in the United States whose PII and PHI was or may have been accessed or acquired in the May 29, 2021 NorthCare data incident.

What Benefits Are Available?

• Reimbursement for time spent up to $100 at $20 per hour for up to 5 hours with attestation
Three years of one bureau credit monitoring services
• Or a $125 alternative cash payment instead of claiming losses, time, or credit monitoring

Yes for out of pocket losses. Provide receipts, bank or card statements, emails, or other records. Time claims require an attestation. No documentation is required for the $125 alternative cash option.
