What Was the Toyota Camry HVAC Settlement?
This class action settlement resolved allegations that the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system in certain 2012–2015 Toyota Camry XV50 vehicles accumulated moisture and gave off foul, musty odors — with plaintiffs alleging the trapped moisture could allow mold to grow. Toyota denied the allegations and any wrongdoing, and resolved the case without admitting liability. The case is Salas v. The settlement covered individual California owners and lessees who, as of May 31, 2024, owned or leased one of these vehicles bought or leased from an authorized dealer in California:• 2012–2015 Toyota Camry (the “XV50” generation)
The XV50 designation refers to the Camry generation Toyota began producing in 2011, but only the 2012–2015 model years fell within the settlement class.

What Benefits Did the Settlement Provide?
The settlement provided reimbursement of reasonable out-of-pocket costs — there was no separate cash tier:• Costs on or before May 31, 2024: full reasonable reimbursement to replace or install a charcoal filter, or to flush the evaporator, in order to address the HVAC odor.
• Costs after May 31, 2024: reimbursement of up to $100 to replace or install a charcoal filter.
• Proof required: claimants had to submit repair or parts receipts and documentation establishing the vehicle’s eligibility, including the VIN.
Toyota did not publicly disclose a total settlement fund figure.
