Maimonides Medical Center is the largest hospital in Brooklyn, New York and serves over 300,000 patients a year across a range of specialties. On June 1, 2023, Maimonides Medical Center began sending out data breach notice letters, advising individuals that their information had been exposed in an attack on the hospital's computer network. The type of information exposed includes:

• Social Security Numbers.

Maimonides reported that the above sensitive protected health information of nearly 33,000 patients may have been accessed by an unauthorized entity or individual. This was discovered initially on April 4, 2023. After conducting a forensic investigation, Maimonides determined that the data breach had initially occurred on March 18, 2023.
