Updated: April 8, 2026
Claims are now open. The $117.5 million Comcast Xfinity data breach settlement is accepting claim forms. You can file for a $50 cash payment (no loss documentation needed) or up to $10,000 for documented losses. You will need your Class Member ID from the notice Comcast sent you to file. The deadline is August 14, 2026.
Between October 16 and October 19, 2023, attackers gained unauthorized access to Comcast internal systems and customer data. Comcast publicly disclosed the breach on December 18, 2023, and sent individual notifications to affected customers. Approximately 36 million Xfinity customers were impacted, making this one of the largest consumer data breaches in recent years.
A class action lawsuit (Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications, LLC, Case No. 2:23-cv-05039-JMY) was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Comcast denies wrongdoing but agreed to a $117,500,000 settlement fund to resolve the claims.
You are included if you received an individual data breach notification from Comcast around December 18, 2023, informing you that your personal information may have been compromised. This includes current and former Xfinity customers residing in the United States and its territories.
There are three payment options:
$50 Cash Payment (No Loss Documentation Required)
All eligible class members can file for an estimated $50 alternative cash payment. You do not need to provide proof of losses, but you will need to verify your identity using the Class Member ID included in the data breach notice Comcast sent you around December 2023. If you no longer have your notice, contact the settlement administrator through the official settlement website. The amount is subject to pro rata adjustment based on total claims filed.
Out-of-Pocket Losses (Up to $10,000)
If you incurred costs from identity theft, fraud, credit monitoring, credit freezes, or other expenses related to the breach after October 16, 2023, you can file for reimbursement with supporting documentation (bank statements, receipts, invoices).
Lost Time (Up to $150)
If you spent time dealing with breach-related fraud or taking preventive measures, you can claim up to 5 hours at $30/hour with a self-certified explanation.
You receive the greater of your documented losses or the $50 cash payment. The combined cap for losses and lost time is $10,000.
All class members automatically qualify for three years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, which includes credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, $1 million identity theft insurance, financial transaction monitoring, home title monitoring, and more. Enrollment codes were included in your breach notification. No claim form is required for this benefit.
