Payouts from the $725 million Facebook privacy settlement began for approved claimants in the United States. The case resolved allegations that Facebook's parent company, Meta, allowed user data to be shared with third parties without adequate consent. Meta denied wrongdoing and agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation.More than 17 million claims were approved.
