How to Tell if Your Fire Truck Is Recalled

The toy is a red plastic fire engine with four black wheels, a white rotating ladder and a black connector that looks like a fire hose. It measures about 10.5 by 14.3 inches. “Melissa & Doug” is embossed on the battery compartment on the bottom, next to two date wheels: Those codes match production in April 2025, May 2025 and March 2026. The recall site also has a Check My Unit tool.

How the Registration Works

Melissa & Doug’s recall site walks owners through nine steps. After confirming the toy is affected, the owner removes the batteries, cuts the black hose off, and writes “RECALL” in permanent marker on the front along with a code provided during registration, then uploads photos of the disabled toy. Uploading a receipt is optional. The owner then picks a remedy and submits contact details.

Melissa & Doug reviews the photos to confirm the toy is affected before processing the replacement, refund or credit. The CPSC notice says that once a registration is confirmed, the toy can go in the household trash. The site says a small Phillips screwdriver, scissors and a permanent marker are needed.
