What Is Being Recalled?

Vanderhall North America LLC of Provo, Utah recalled about 190 Brawley GTS electric recreational off-road vehicles, every model year 2024 through 2026 unit, on November 5, 2026, in a recall announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The CPSC says the seat belts can lock up permanently in the fully retracted position. When that happens, the rider cannot reset the belt and put it on while the vehicle is running, posing injury and crash hazards.

Vanderhall has received 11 reports of the seat belt locking up. No injuries have been reported. The remedy is a free repair at an authorized Vanderhall dealer.

Which Vehicles Are Included?

Every model year 2024, 2025 and 2026 Brawley GTS is included. Each vehicle’s VIN is under the dashboard on the driver’s side, and the CPSC lists these ranges for the last six digits: The Vanderhall logo is on the bottom of each door. The vehicles came in Ivory White, Obsidian Black, Royal Blue, Ida Rose, Bosco Blue, Atomic Green, Rossa, Jean Gray and Emerald Green Metallic. They were sold at Vanderhall dealers in Utah, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arizona from April 2024 to June 2026 for about $50,000, and were made in the United States.

How Does the Repair Work?

The CPSC says owners should stop using the vehicles immediately and contact an authorized Vanderhall dealer to schedule the free repair. A technician installs an insert into the seat belt guide slot on each seat, which reduces the speed at which the belt retracts and prevents the lockup. Vanderhall lists the notice on its safety notices portal under “Vanderhall North America, LLC Recalls Brawley GTS Seat Belt Retractor.” The CPSC notice does not set an end date for the repair.
